This 52nd PAN Music Festival, in collaboration with IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique/Musique) of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France, a world-renowned music and acoustics research institute, examine research on musical art and sound art that fuses cutting-edge technology through the 2024 Ircam Forum Workshop @Seoul forum event, and has prepared this music festival with the hope that joint research and international musical cooperation for the future will continue through the 52nd PAN Music Festival Concert as a program that connects academics and performances.
The 52nd PAN Music Festival will be held from November 6 to 8 in conjunction with the academic event ‘2024 Ircam Forum Workshop @Seoul’, and as a concert program linked to the forum event, ‘Chaplin Factory’ is, which is invited as an IRCAM invitation work, and produced IRCAM and composed by Martin Matalon for three Chaplin silent films , , and , as Ircam supported the electronic sound, and the premiered at ManiFest on May 30th in Paris.
Unlike film music, Ciné Concert is music with socially engaged themes, unlike film music that supplements images or film stories. It is a work that denounces the social issues flowing in the film theme with modern music. There will be many rough and difficult expressions, but it will introduce a performance with socially engaged content that combines cutting-edge technology and art to Korean audiences.
In addition, we will invite ensemble mosaik, a representative contemporary music performance group in Berlin, Germany, and present works selected by the ISCM Korea section contest and works by German composers through the ISCM Korea-German exchange concert. We will also introduce , a facial expression musical play composed by Steven Kazuo Takasugi, which is unfamiliar to Korean audiences, for the first time.
We will invite ensemble Geori, which consists of traditional Korean instruments and piano, and present new contemporary music and sound to the audience with works selected by the ISCM Korea section 'call for score' and works commissioned by ensemble Geori.
We look forward to your interest and participation in this music festival, which has been prepared as a place to especially think about art for the future.
