The Korean Branch of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) was established in 1971 and currently has approximately 300 members. It carries out the purposes stated in the Articles of Association of the ISCM, introduces the latest information on contemporary music from around the world to Korea, and plays a central role in promoting Korean creative music internationally through participation in World Music Days and hosting the Pan Music Festival (PMF).
Every year, PMF hosts presentations and seminars, and through extensive international exchanges, it presents more diverse and new contemporary music. In particular, the Pan Music Festival has been inviting numerous domestic and international composers and performers for the past 30 years since 1969, performing and discussing their works, and has been of great help in suggesting the current status of contemporary music and the direction it should take in the future.
